Spirit of Control
Evil Is Never Overcome By More Evil
Today’s Scripture
When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes. As they danced, they sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands." Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?" And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David. (1 Samuel 18:6-9 NIV)
Today’s Word
When someone who has had controlling influence over your life physically, psychologically or spiritually suddenly looses that control or thinks they can no longer control you, chances are they are not going to respond with favor towards you. In fact, they may even demonstrate envy, anger, criticism, retaliation and even worse hatred.
Turn this matter over to God, then get out of His way and let Him do what He does, you’ll be amazed at how Gods influence in someone’s life can change them from a spirit-of-control to a spirit-of-love, joy and forgiveness.
A Prayer for Today
Dear God, pour out Your Spirit that others may come to know You in such a personal way that they are never the same again, that they would become instruments of Your love giving hope throughout the land. Let Your purpose become our purpose. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
